I have a 2008 Ford Escape that I have owned for 3 months and I have noticed rust appearing around the inside?

It is a normal condition of the vehicle and any vehicle when you mix water and metal you will get rust in some areas. I think you are talking about the brake rotors. This is 100% normal.

Ford does not offer wheel covers on ANY 2008 Escape they all come with alluminum wheels or chrome coverd 17" wheels that are also aluminum and the cover is plastic so it will not corrode in the salt belt.

Probably only brake dust. Ford has an anti rust coating on the whole vehicle and will be unlimited. Usually when you buy a new car that hasn't been driven much, it's like breaking the car in. So the breaks are just starting to break in. You can probably somehow get Ford or a car wash to get it off your wheels.

take it back to the dealership and explain to them your concerns. They will probably take it thru their carwash and have the body shop look at it. Do you live up north like michigan or something? If so, then it may be possible to BE rust from sitting on the carlot. Check the date of production on the sticker on the door. But definitly have the body shop look at it. If they say its rust, throw a fit untill they fix it.

p.s. Usually new cars will have a rustproof coating on it. Or theyll ask you when you purchase the vehicle if you want that option and theyll do it for you before you recieve the vehicle.

Rust will sometimes appear on rims that have wheel covers on them due to the covers wearing into the metal until it hits the unprotected area (worn away the paint).

Take the vehicle back to the dealer and show them what you are talking about...

Probably just brake dust, so make sure you clean it off really well. If it truely is rust, take it back to the dealership and make them replace the wheel covers ASAP.

It mostly occurs in the rainy seson. Hope you must have brought the car during such period. The main reason is that your car must have hit some were and if that is the case then the flow of ions in that region reduses and flows in different way.

Just because it is new means nothing. Often new cars sit on the car lot for 6months or they are stored outside in a compound or they are transported on a truck over a salted highway. You can't beat rust, in less you drive a Deloran it will catch up to your car one day. Sorry...........
