hi,
well if you have a windows XP CD, its possible. i bought my loptop 4 months ago with ofcourse Vista. well im pretty advanced in computer so, what the heck formatted my vista and changed it to xp. well the problem i encountered is that the driver download for my loptops in the manufaturers website is that its only for Vista. it took me about the whole day, i mean whole day to find the drivers for it. well if you really wat to do it. contact support first, ( like hp.com live chat) then ask tell them that you will be downgrading from vista to xp. and ask the link for the drivers in XP. if they dont have.. well you have to find your harware name's using this tool

then download the driver first! after you downloaded all of your drivers, here's the stet by step process on installling XP.

note, on step five, make delete the partition first. then continue the steps.
hope it helps.

Well, you can't simply 'delete' Vista. You can format the hard drive, but that will also delete all the files on it.
Now, how to do this? First of all, before you continue, make sure that your warranty will not be voided by uninstalling Vista. Although your hardware should still be covered under warranty, your software and system might not be.
I'm also assuming you plan to put Windows XP onto the labtop. Or Linux, or w/e.
First of all, make sure if there are any valuable files on the labtop, save them to a USB drive or CD. Next, put the CD of your operating system (Windows, Linux) into the CD drive.
Now reboot the system. As soon as the labtop turns on (when you hit the power button, NOT when Windows loads), start pressing 'Del' or F11 (depends on your labtop). This should take you into the BIOS, where you can tell the labtop to boot from the CD in your optical drive. If you, for example, but the Windows XP cd in there, next time the computer loads it'll take you to the Windows installation. Then just follow instruction.

Yes, but with some effort on your part. First you need to see if you can download Windows XP drivers for your computer model and make, then down load them first and save to a CD.
Reboot with Windows XP and allow it to format your drive and install it to the hard drive. I have already dumped Windows Vista on two brand new computers.

Sorry, you are out of luck. You can't 'downgrade' OS'es by microsoft. Once you have Vista you are stuck with it unless you do some pretty drastic stuff like buying a new hard drive and a new copy of XP or reformatting your drive. If you dont mind spending the money to get a a new hard drive then get a new one, make your current one the slave drive, and put XP Pro on the new hard drive as the master.

Bad idea.
vista has the most security features than any OS. Going back to XP will just riddle you computer with viruses. Anyway, if you originally had it on the laptop when you bought it, you gotta go out and buy Windows XP. However if you had XP on origonally and bought Vista, just do a system restore to the point when you bought it.

Well.. i too had this same problem when i bought laptop..
so later i decided to remove it completely and then i installed XP in it.
To install XP. I hope u have the XP cd then restart the system. then press f2 key to go in bios settings.
then u need to change the boot disk to cd rom.
then save the settings and restart the system
then it asks to press any key to boot into Cd
after doing that it goes in blue screen and then asks you few options like press enter then f8 to continue..
then it asks to select in which drive u need to install..
Here dont forget to format the disk u need to install
Format it using fat32. Format it completely
Allow it to finish it till end and in between it asks for things which u can do it easily..
Hope u can do it easily..

this is an interesting question. what exactly do you hate about it. yes you can format your drive and reload it with xp but make sure you back it up forst so you dont lose any data.
I ask why because I use it on one of my laptops and I dont see an advantage or disadvantage as of yet.
