I have a beagle/basset mixed puppy that is 8 weeks old now. He lives with two cats and the worst thing he does is to run up and give them kisses. they are not too fond of this and will run away after one or two and he tries to play with them but he has never tried to hurt them. Now every dog is different but I would suggest getting the puppy young so he will grow up with the cats. I also got my puppy free but the supplies were not cheap. He is a very good puppy, fast learner but a little stubborn sometimes, if he wants something he wants it.
edit: the only time Drax is yappy is when he is upset, say put in the room so I can go to work or riding in the car because he doesn't like it. He is normally very quiet and will not cry very much. He did whine when we first got him if i left the room but he was much better by the second day. It all depends on the individual dog.

Well, almost all dogs get along with cats it's the cats that don't play nice.
I don't liv in the UK so I can't help you there but take my word for it, get it from a breeder NOT A STORE.
I must worn you beagle puppies are very yappy and they don't get along with children the best if you would like to send me an email maybe we could find a better dog for you I know all breads small and large. And what there attitudes are.

Different dogs have different temperments for cats, children, other dogs, etc. You can't determine that any particular breed is guaranteed to get on well with cats. You should contact a beagle rescue & ask if they have any beagles that have been socialized with cats previously.

My son and daughter-in-law have 3 beagles and they rescued them at the animal shelter. Try someplace like that.

For a purebred I would say maybe from $600-a couple thousand. It may be good with cats or you can adopt one for like $45 that is a bit older that already has been with cats, but you can't guarente they'll get along.

BE WARNED by brother had one, they had to give it away in the end because it needs an ACTIVE life. They both work and were not able to give the dog enough exercise. They ARE VERY VERY VERY hyper active, working dogs. Don't even think about it unless you are fully aware about this breeds nature, personality, and temperament.
