Can you take strepsil throat lozengers when you are pregnant?

I know it may seem silly to ask but the ones I have are the plus ones with antiseptic and I don't want to do the wrong thing.

No you cant take that sort. I had a sore throat a few weeks ago and my chemist told me that they wernt allowed in pregnancy. Just ask your pharmacist when you are there - they have all the right and wrong brands right in front of them.

    Strepsil Pregnancy

Hum, I have never heard of that brand. Not sure, but I asked my pharm. about what to do for a cold and he said don't take anything you don't have to... but if you need to you can start with a Cough Drop(lozenge) and then move up from there..

Okay I just did a search for you and it said to use this medicine with caution.. So I don't think I would unless the Dr. told you to.

Here's is what it said specifically about the strepsil throat lozenges...I just copied and pasted the part about Pregnancy. I wasn't sure if the link would work or not.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

"Certain medicines should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. However, other medicines may be safely used in pregnancy or breastfeeding providing the benefits to the mother outweigh the risks to the unborn baby. Always inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy, before using any medicine.

This medicine should be used with caution during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Seek medical advice from your doctor."

Good Luck!! I hope you can find something that helps

I just checked and the link does work..
