I was on sereoquel and hated it and think it was the medication that made me gain weight or it was the Effexor! When I switched off Effexor I started losing weight. The sereoquel was giving me nightmares like racing dreams. The zyprexa is helping my sleep finally and is making me so much better I still have 20 lbs to lose has anyone gained more weight on the Zyprexa? I am now on Wellbutrin which really decreases my appetite help!!!!!!!

Seroquel gave me terrible nightmares and I was afraid to go to sleep. My doctor prescribed Imipramine for the nightmares and I could sleep normally again.
I gained 50 pounds on Seroquel in one year.
Now I take Wellbutrin 300 mg. and have lost 32 pounds. It also gives me lots of energy.

I do know that zyprexa will make you gain weight, as will most antidepressants, however on the other hand wellbutrin is the only one that is supposed to not make you gain weight, they consider it weight neutral, but everybodys body metabolizes things differently. I don't know how old you are but, but my question would be why can't he give you a sleeping pill like lunesta to take on the evenings when you are having difficulty, it works great. Just a thought! hope you sleep well this evening.

I have a personality where I threw my prescriptions in the trash every time I felt my doctor wasn't really listening to me.
So, I hate pills when I need to get at the cause of my problems naturally, because there are no short cuts when it comes to drugs.
You will get used to the Zyprexa and then want something else. That's just the way it is.
I think you will really like this web site: http://www.naturesfoodpatch.com/common/adam/index....
You click on depletions and find out what deficiencies medication causes and then the epiphany is that your sleep disorder is a hormonal imbalance caused from lack of certain nutrients to feed your endocrine system.

Zyprexa is the most fattening medication on the planet. There are lawsuits over it causing diabetes. Unless you are psychotic or in a bipolar mania, demand that your doc gives you sleeping pills instead. Antipsychotics are NOT for sleeping difficulties. Precribing APs for sleep is just bad medicine. (And, if you doc is not a psychiatrist, go see a psychiatrist. If you haven't been evaluated for bipolar, go get evaluated.)

Have you ever thought of sound therapy or maybe some Kava root tea? They all help your mind fall asleep. Do yourself a favor and quit the drugs.
