Dish Player 625 DVR - User opinions on dual TV mode?

I am considering switching to Dish Network and was looking at their dual tuner DVRs. While most DVRs now are dual tuner, I have not seen the ability to output to two different TVs before. What I would like to hear is opinions on the practicality of the dual TV mode from people who have used it in this setup.

I can see advantages to having one source for playback of recorded shows, but how often do you run into situations when different members of the household want to watch different live programs on the two TVs, interfering with the ability to record a third program?? Is there any safeguard so that a person on the second TV does not change the channel and interrupt the recording of a show??

Also, can the volume button on the remote control be set to control a stereo receiver??

well i have had dish for; say 3yrs. i have the 522 and a 625 recievers'. well to help u make up your mind; i'll have to let in to my home, lol jus for a bit. before we got the 625, we had a single tuner in the living room. we love the fact tht we can set up the dvr and our fav show is waitn for us when we r ready. but the downside to a single tuner dvr; is tht u have to watch whatever is being recorded. u cant change the channel, if u do; u stop the recording. so in the livingroom; the kids would b watch spongebob, and BOOM; here comes uncles' sci-fi show about to start recording." OH MAN!!!!" would be the cry heard thru out the house; lol. plus we came to a grim fact. we dvr more than watch live tv; so the single tuner was not cuttin it.we had to plan a tv season like a family vacation, lol. we had to sit down w/ pen and paper; factor out what was showin when and where and plan; what will be dvr'd on what tv; lol it was jus gettin crazy. we had a 522 sharin betwwen 2 rooms; but that was for myself and my sister. even with the 522 you still realize tht 3 or more people have shows coming on; on diffrent channels, at the same time?! so thts the akilese heel; lol of the dvr. the larger the family the more chances you have for time and channel conflicts. thts why we got the 625 for the livingroom. so now the kids can watch cartoon network all day long and all the show we want to watch on the big screen can be recorded in the background; once you set the the tuner to single mode. so u ask; whts' single mode? well whn u have a dual tuner, u have dual mode: 2 tv's can watch independent shows at the same time. or single mode: a daul tuner is outputing to a single tv. so in single mode on a dual tuner, u can watch a show and still record another. another perk; u got PIP!!! with the daul tuners 1 person doesnt have control over both tv's. each tuner is given its own remote, 1 is IR the other is UHF. the IR remote is the primery, and the person tht has the reciver in there rm as total control; cause only from the front control panel, is where you can change the reciver to daul or single mode. the remotes that come w/ the recievers are universal; so they can be programmed to control other devices. so you can try it; and hope it has the codes to control the devices you need. well i hope i helped you; jus a reminder; tht hdtv is here, so if you do decide to get dish; make sure you go with the hd recievers. even if you dont have an hdtv yet, cause sdtv still work w/ theses hd recievers, they still have coax output. jus like cellphone companies; once ur in, ur in and its not easy to upgrade, lol.

We have a 625 in our house and I admit that I love it. Currently my wife is recording a show (she's at work) so I just went in our bedroom to watch something else. I compared the dual tuner feature and it really saves us some cash from getting two cable boxes.
