Many storylines didn't change during the summer, as many characters involved in the biggest scripts of the three brands were injured (HBK HHH Lashley RVD, Mcmahon) or suspended (Hardy).

Now CM Punk is obviously not struggling alone with Johnny Nitro's belt, but to freeze the storylines until september was perhaps a wise decision. This allowed the fans to forget wrestling for a while, and the timing was perfect. Yet I believe that we should include an explicit vacation storyline in the future scripts of Raw and SD, only to justify the suspension of the other scripts. Bischoff should be definitely hired as a summer GM and let loose, because he made his splash with WCW during that time, and he apparently does a better job during the summer, next to the beach and palm trees, etc.

In sum, USA and other networks legitimately want to broadcast their 30 hours of pro wrestling during august, therefore the show must go on. One solution for the McMahons is to recap a previous season of Raw and SD in 8 segments of 2 hours. Another is to stretch the storylines until september (this definitely happened in 2007). But a recap would probably give lower ratings and as doesn't target the hardcore fans (who remain during the summer).

It's definietely wise, i believe, to give a vacation to the big horses of wrestling. It just does not seem perfectly implemented yet.
