Mailing out of state?

If i am mailing a letter from CT to NY do I mail the letter at the post offiice or can i just put it in my mail box and put the flag up

    Just put it in the mail box with the flag up it will still get to where its going

    As long as it is a standard letter, weighing under 13 ounce, you can put a $0.41 stamp on it and stick it in your mail box. If it is any bigger, or weighs more, you may need to but more postage. If the postage is not sufficient the letter will come back to you. From there, you could leave it in your mailbox with the flag up. Some people do not like this idea, however, due to the fact that there are people out there that will steal your mail for the checks or money in them or as a way of getting you in identity theft. So, for more security you could also take it to the Post Office.

    Any letter can be mailed from you box with the flag up. That is what it is for.
