What makes Windows Vista better than Windows XP?
What does it have that XP doesn't have? Is it faster and more efficient? Is it more effective for the internet? Are there any drawbacks to Vista not found in XP?

XP Pros.
1) Will run just about any piece of software you throw at it.
2)Microsoft still offer solid support, and according to a recent statement they will be for at least the next 7 years owing to XP's global coverage.
3)It's fast especially with Pentium 4 PC's as many of us own.
4)It will run quite sweetly on 512mb RAM.
5)Software which was primarily developed for Vista will run on it for example: Internet Explorer 7, Windows Media Player 11, Windows Defender etc.
6)Its an incredibly stable platform, the best Microsoft has released to date by far.
XP Cons.
1)A nasty "Fisher Price" look interface, however this can be transformed by using Windowblinds or as ive done installed , CrystalXP Bricopack Vista Inspirat 2, which is almost a straight copy of Vista RC1 and looks the business.
2)The only thing that lets XP down bigtime is its dodgy firewall, its best to turn it off and use ZoneAlarm instead, which is far more effective.
Now before I go any further I should let it be known that I Dual Boot XP and Vista.
Vista Pros.
1)A much improved firewall so there is no need to install a third party one anymore.
2)Silkly smooth interface with Aero which is available on both Home Premium and Ultimate (Avoid Home Basic as its a waste of time and money)
3) Far better search facilities( No more tail wagging Dog).
Vista Cons.
1)As a new operating system it is still relatively unstable with various bugs to sort out (just as XP was until Service Pack 2 was released).
2)Considerable incompatability issues with third party software.
3)The User account control (UAC) which is like a nagging nanny each time you want to open an application this can be turned off but however.
4)It will run on 512mb of RAM but its better with 1024mb RAM (1gb) as Microsoft recommend.
So there you have it. .
Vista is improving all the time and XP will soon be history.

hiya....XP is extra advantageous for an improve and forget Vista. Vista is XP with some secure practices gains which you, can do without, at the instant. earlier long, Microsoft would be popping out with yet another version of domicile windows, stated as domicile windows 8. at the instant, there are nonetheless some problems with Vista that Microsoft is working to be certain. So, for the money and a modern-day domicile windows, i'd recommend XP.

You don't have to log your user off to run tasks as an administrator, you can copy files between two Vista machines faster than between two XP machines, the searches are faster in Vista, and you have more options- more search flexibility.
Having said that, I think it is a huge pain in the butt.
It won't run well on old hardware, compatibility is terrible with different kinds of software (so we're all just supposed to buy all our software for Microsoft now, right? time to learn office 2007... talk about reinventing the wheel.), for digital rights management, it has to activate itself over the internet- not a problem for a business, but for a home user it's a pain. All in all, I don't care for it, but then, it's new.

I hate Vista but you can't buy a new computer with out it. XP was perfect and I am into high graphics.
They made Vista because computer sales were slow and they cryed to Microsoft to put out this new junk software so they could advertise and sell more computers. Everyone I know that bought a new computer is swapping out Vista for XP or turning off them 1 GB Ram eating graphics. That's just stupid to use up that resource for a some flash.
