What may I bring home?
I am traveling to France in October, and thought I might do a little Christmas shopping while there. Does anyone know what types of items I am forbidden to bring home? For example, could I buy a bottle of wine for someone?

Just about the only thing you cannot bring back is certain agricultural products such as meats, live plants or other items which might carry dangerous plant or animal diseases. Wine is not one of these.
Items which cannot be imported direclty cannot be purchased in France for importation to the USA (Cuban cigars for example).
Of course things like illegal drugs also cannot be brought into the USA.

I can't believe a few of these answers. Some others I agree with 100%. I would hope that my son doesn't marry someone who treats him as an equal. That's what I want for my son, someone who is respectful, loving and fun. She can be religious, she can have what ever religion she wants. She can be any color. I'd like to slap that person who said Not a Jew or Christian. That is so damn disgusting, I can't believe in this day and age people are still so disgusting and closed minded. Why wouldn't you want your child to be happy? I know the answer to that, I'm not going to say it though. That person is clearly uneducated. That's all.
