1st Yahoo Football Draft - Look okay to the pros out there?

OK - I was picking 4th in a 12-team league, and it is a PPR league. I am feeling pretty good about how it cam out, altho I would have liked to be stronger at RB. The draft just didn't fall that way. Anyway, here goes:

1. (4) Frank Gore RB

2. (21) Steve Smith WR

3. (28) Carson Palmer QB

4. (45) Deuce McAllister RB

5. (52) Andre Johnson WR

6. (69) LaMont Jordan RB

7. (76) Chicago DEF

8. (93) Laveranues Coles WR

9. (100) Vince Young QB

10. (117) Bernard Berrian WR

11. (124) Randy McMichael TE

12. (141) Kevin Jones RB

13. (148) Green Bay DEF

14. (165) John Kasay K

15. (172) Eric Moulds WR

And please - if your best input is "Cut Moulds and get Torry Holt" or "Cut Kevin Jones and pick up LT, he's pretty good", don't bother answering. You'll get thumbs-down from those that know their stuff and you won't sniff a best answer - thanks!!

Update:

I should have added in our starting positions: 1-QB, 2-RB, 2-WR, 1-TE, 1-W/R, 1-K, 1-DST. Also, I realize Jones will probably go PUP, but he is a 4th back and could still put up close to 1000 yards rushing if he is right, coming back with 11 games to play (week 6, DET's bye, so he would only have to miss 5 games in reality).

That is a solid, solid team. B+

You got value with nearly every pick, and have a nice balance of risk and reward.

Kevin Jones was placed on the PUP list, so he's worthless to you for six weeks. That's dead weight, and with his Lisfrac injury I dropped him in my league. Hard to say what is on your waiver wire. I grabbed Arnaz Battle (WR), hoping that Darrell Jackson keeps hurting from his hamstring injury. Grabbing Gore's backup might be smart -- not sure if Hicks or Robinson has that value, but either is more viable than Jones today.

Your TE is weak. STL under Linehan has not featured the TE much. In the short term with Holt slowed, McMichael may be a viable play, but I think you'll be shopping for another TE. I'll bet Tony Scheffler or Daniel Graham from Denver are out there. Did anyone grab Ben Watson?

Green Bay is a dreadful backup defense on paper, but in the 13th round there probably wasn't much left. Oakland is a nice sleeper defense. Sapp lost 50 pounds and is flying around like a maniac.

Jordan is a good receiver out of the backfield. That was smart in a PPR league. Hopefully they use him like they did in 2005.

I believe strongly in the Madden Curse, and I think Vince Young is overrated. You got great value for him, so when the time comes don't be afraid to trade him. Palmer should be rock solid for you, except when he plays the Ravens.

I would love to see you get one more RB. Gore is a big injury risk, and the heart of your team. Maybe that's where Vince Young can come in if he has a good game or two. You might be able to send him off for a mid-tier RB.

You are going to make some noise with that team. Well done. Doesn't look like a rookie team at all.

Ok, so lets add this up to your starting, shall we?

    QB - Palmer

    WR - Smith

    WR - Johnson

    RB - Gore

    RB - McAllister

    WR/RB - Jordan

    TE - McMichael

    K - Kasay

    DEF - Chicago

Congradulations, you have a good team. I will keep this short and sweet. Drop Jones and go after Jackson in GB, Bell in DET. This far into the season, most people know of Norwood, but if not, get him. Also Moulds as the last pick...NICE! He should be the number 2 behind Brandon Jones in TEN. I might try and put together Young and McAllister to pick up a top 10 RB. Even just McAllister by himself with the person who has Bush, could be a huge steal for you.

Just get that second really good RB..not that your gonna need it, but it lovely when you have Gore and Jackson (my team).

    Good luck!!

thats a pretty stout team. the only thing i would possibly try and improve on is your wide receiveing corp HOWEVER i've played fantasy football for 3 years and ive learned that they all are streaky. Unless you a top 5 WR its anyones guess who is going to do well that week. I love Deuce McCallister this year..he will be the hoss in the RB duo for the saints (Reggie jus gets all the spotlight cuz he makes shocks us every once and awhile). But overall ur team looks pretty stout. best of luck

I don't like Gore at #4, because depending on who went 1-2-3, there had to be someone else there instead of Gore. He hasn't done anything in a month and has yet to play after his injury.

Smith, Palmer, Johnson, and Berrian were good value picks at those numbers.

Your Defense is top notch with Chicago, and I like the fact that you did not waste an early pick on a Kicker.

So you are locked in at QB, DEF, and WR. I don't like your RBs because of Gore's status and Jones who is still on the PUP list in DET, but if Gore is good to go, your gamble will pay off. I just don't like gambling with either of my first two picks.

Overall pretty solid. Berrian at 117 was a steal. Check on Jones' status and make a quick move if it looks like he will be a no go.

You have a competitive team. Here's three things you can do to improve your team:

    1. Get ahead of the waiver wire rush and replace deep picks for prospects with more upside. Drop Eric Moulds and pick up either Bo Scaife (TE, Titans) or David Patten (NO, WR). Scaife is a college buddy of Vince Young and will get as many throws as the #1 WR Brandon Jones. Patten is a veteran who fills in Joe Horn's role at NO. McMichael is getting a lot of hype but I predict Scaife will be the sleeper TE this season. You won't start Moulds over Steve Smith or Andre Johnson, so reach for upside potential.

    2. Be ready to deal Vince Young after week 3. Whether you believe in the Madden Curse or not, Young will be at his value peak of the season. Along with Reggie Bush and Calvin Johnson, Young will be a frequent guest on ESPN's highlight show. This is a great opportunity to trade for more RB depth or a better defense.

    3. Follow the early RB disappointments. Packers RB Brandon Jackson has a brutal starting schedule. His owner will be ready to deal him cheaply after week 3. To a lesser extent, the owner of Rudi Johnson may be ready to deal. Johnson won't be on highlight shows and he's got a tough starting schedule. This will be your opportunity to package Vince Young and LaMont Jordan for an upgrade.

    very nice

although i would cut moulds and kevin jones lol

moulds is old and tennesee will likley go to their youner recievers

and kevin jones is starting the season on the PUP list

meaning he will miss the first 5 weeks

if you can use moulds or jones as trade bait then go ahead

and love the lamont jordan pick but HATE the duce pick

I really like your team. If i would make any moves i would maybe trade Young and Kevin Jones for someone like a cedric benson or slightly better. Vince young is good but when you have Palmer you dont really need him!!!

i think you did good you have 2 good RB, good QB, good D, could use stronger TE, and good WR

you have a pretty strong team, i would oviously need to see the rest of the league to see about your chances and the way the scoring is. I usually draft my teams to best accomidate the scoring of the league. but with my expierences with 12 team leagues, it seams that you faired quite well with your picks. its a no brainer with palmer as your QB and VY as your back up, now i am a titans fan but i really do think he is going to have an amazing season. i see 3000 passing and 800 rushing. WR, great 2 headed monster with smith and johnson, andre i think will become an elite receiver after this season, and you good depth with the rest of you WR. RB, might be your one question mark, if gore stays healthy he could mirror last season, but i believe the saints are going to give alot more touches to bush this season in between the 20s and goal line so duce's productivity will go down. jordan has the reigns of a bad offense for the first four games, after that.... ? and jones is hurt, like usual. a trade in this department could help you. go after a novice in the league and try to come away with a steal. TE, i think mcmichael is a highly underated TE so you did great with that pick. DEF/ST, da bears..... enough said. green bay as a back up, i think they have alot of upside due to their young and more expierenced defensive players. its a good gamble. and K, who cares, in most league they contribute very little. to sum it up you have a strong team and in my opinion a trade for a solid RB would help like find a team stacked with RBs maybe a trade like mcalister for thomas jones or something similar to that. your sleeper will be..... randy mcmichael. i didn't read the other answers yet so i apoligize if i repeated some of them. good luck

This is actually a good team for a 12-team league without P'sPR, but with, it's even better. Gore and Jordan will catch a ton and still do very well with their other statistics. McAllister is obviously not a reception guy anymore with Bush there, but boy, did he used to be. I would actually start LaMont over Deuce just for that fact. Smith, Johnson, and Coles will all catch very close to 100 balls so that is a very good recieving corps in this league. Heck, that's a good recieving corps in almost any league, but you did your homework and followed the very first rule of fantasy football; know the rules and draft by them. I also like McMichael for about 60-70 and maybe some good yardage on top of those catches. K. Jones is also one of those guys good for P'sPR but he may be out for the first 6 weeks of the season. Keep a real close eye on him and if you're allowed to (and he does get kept on PUP) then place him on your IR(if your league allows PUP players to be on the IR) and pick up another player. Moulds and Berrian are extremely iffy, but you might as well stick with them and see how they do. If there's any way that Wes Welker is out there drop one of them for him. Welker will be the best WR on the Patriots this year and a stud to go along with that. Kasay is a good K, but if Mare is out there, get him. I know Mare and Welker aren't really sneaking up on anyone but I don't know your league and your owners and if those guys are out there, get them now. Green Bay will be a top 7-8 D this year so if someone in your league needs a top D and is willing to overpay then get rid of Chicago. I don't really think you need to do that but if someone is willing to pay a steep price for them and maybe Deuce in a combo deal and you're as confident in GB as I am then pull the trigger.

All in all, I think this a really good team for a 12-team league with PPR as a scoring category. Good Luck.
