no customs at CDG Paris?

After a meeting in Hong Kong, I will fly to Lyon, France via Osaka Kansai and CDG Paris. I was told by Air France that I have to go through the passport controll at CDG and proceed to transit lounge but my baggage will be checked all the way through Lyon and Paris-Lyon flight is domestic so I do not have to go through customs. I think it's weird. Is it true? If so any contrabands can be easily brought into France this way.

You will have to clear customs in Paris-Charles de Gaulle although your baggage will be tagged all the way to Lyon. The customs officers in Paris will inspect your baggage; however you need not check it in again. You just have to put the baggage back to the conveyor belt and it will be transferred to your flight to Lyon.

It turned out that there is no customs at Arlanda
