OMG ...I just got braces on the bottom a few days ago(also).....For me it wasnt that terrible...It is pretty normal if it hurts when you are brushing your teeth:

1.solution to brushing teeth:try brushing softly or buy toothbrush that is more soft,it will help ya

2.solution to eating wise:eat food that are soft,(for ex:peach...slice them in small pieces) or use a food prossesor ....

3.rather of eating,,,,try drinking more, like juice and drink things that will boost your energy /since with braces eating less would make you feel a bit weak and low of energy(at least thats how i felt )

HOPE that THIS helps U....(if it helps feel free to ask me any questions bout braces cua i just got them also and I know how it feels..like right now ^_^)

There's not much you can do about that. Braces will hurt when you first get them. The pain goes away once your teeth are adjusted to the braces, which can take 3 days or 3 weeks. Try to eat soft foods until your teeth feel better.

You need a dose of Advil or ibuprofen of some sort.. whatever your age is, read on the bottle and take the amount prescribed, then eat something soft, like mashed potatoes, or ice cream, or some soup. I keep those grab and go type soup things you microwave and sip out of on hand for my daughters when they've had their braces adjusted. It makes their tummy full and helps keep them from having to chew with sore teeth. Its perfectly normal to hurt for 3 days after your braces are put on, and when they're adjusted every frew weeks, depending on how tight they pull your teeth and how fast they move them, you may hurt for a day or two after the appointment.. always eat a GOOD meal before your appointment and plan ahead with your family about meals for your 'after appointment' days.

I wore braces for 5 years the first time I had them, and 3 years the 2nd time I had them, so I remember how bad they can hurt!

Sorry hon! Hope this helps you... and remember ibuprofen/advil is BEST for dental/orthodontic pain.

Yes, this is very normal. I used to work for an orthodontist. Did they give you a list of suggested foods to eat (and not eat) with your new braces? They should have. If not, just go to google and do a search. If you're still in that same amount of pain, it would be best to stick with things you either do not have to chew (like soup) or things that are very soft. I hope this was helpful!

The joys of braces. I had them for four years all through high school ugh. When getting new ones or having them tightened they will hurt for a bit. Eat some stuff that is easy to swallow for a few days. If the pain doesnt go away call that dentist.

This is absolutely normal. I had braces and that was a horrible time. Liquids are easier to eat. Try soup because the warmth will sooth your teeth. Avoid eating things that are hard to chew like burgers. The pain will go away in a few days, but when they tighten them again next month it will hurt again.

Yes, that pain is normal. Fortunately, it goes away within a few days. But for now, the only thing you can do is put up with it. Eat foods that don't require a lot of chewing, like applesauce. Drink milkshakes. Just wait it out, and they will feel a lot better before you know it

Get a smoothie or a milkshake. It'll give you some protien and calcium and you won't have to chew. It's normal to be in pain for the first few days following braces installation. It will also hurt when they get adjusted. You'll be fine though, I promise.

Actually, braces are very hard to handle. I have heard of a boy cry because he couldn't eat with his braces and do anything with them. But you will get used to them soon and start eating PERFECTLY normal, don't worry. So to answer your question; YES that is perfectly normal. :)

Yes, it's normal. As everyone has said who has worn them or is wearing them - you have to stick to smooth liquid type food for a couple of days. Nothing too hot or too cold. Your teeth are sensitive. But in about 3 days - you'll be good for that slice of pizza. Yogurt and smoothies are great during the wait.
