--edit: ok i see you got connected to Wireless? The other half that says disconnected is probably the Ethernet connection. That's ok since you can't use both the Wired and Wireless at once. but what needs to be solved is the connection from the Wireless router to your Cable modem. Can you find the make and model info on the Wireless router and help us out?

If you're online through the Wireless, you're done.

    = = = = = =

Unfortunately, Comcast probably won't help you with this since it's not equipment that they provide or support.

What make and model is the old router? (with that info, default information like typical ip address and admin username or password or both can usually be found online).

Was the RCN connection DSL? Does the router have an Ethernet *input* from whatever (modem?) was receiving the Internet signal, or is it an 'all-in-one' device that made the connection and did the wireless together in one unit?

If it's the latter, you might be ahead just to pick up a new wireless router this time. They're only $50 or less on sale, and any brand will do the job. It's easy connecting to Comcast.

One thing you'll want to make sure to do, if you've had the PC connected directly to the Comcast modem, is take the power completely out of the Comcast cable modem for a minute or more before attaching the router.

You can't have more than one MAC address (part of your network card) attached to the cable at a time, and so if you unplug the modem for a bit, it resets the memory on which one it is.

Whichever router you end up using, make sure the router is connected up first, then power up the Cable modem.

    Good luck!

If you want to add details about the parts, I'll try to review this later tonight. Cheers

On most routers there will be a small reset button that resets the router to its Default settings, then just look at the manufacturers website on how to set it up again !!

You need to check the manual for actual setting information. This should be on the cd.
