hard drive space question?

When I right click on the Windows folder in my C drive and view the Properties it says I have 26.3G's used but when I go into the Windows fold and Ctrl+A and then view the Properties (with Hidden Files showing) it comes up saying there is only 2.86G's used.

Why is there such a huge variation there?

Becuase the Windows Folder is just one of several main folders on your C Drive. There are also your Documents, Program Files, Driver Files, etc.

So your Windows folder is 2.86 GB....all the files total on your C drive are 26.3 GB.

The variation is because you are looking at two different totals.

When you right-click on the windows folder and click on properties, you are seeing the total disk space used by everything in that folder, including all files in all sub-folders.

When you Ctrl-A and hit properties, you are only looking at the totals in that folder only, not the sub-folders.
