Does anybody know how to figure.......?

how many gallons of water I have in my well? The well is 5ft. in diameter, and I have ten ft. of water. How many gallons do I have?

    You want to compute the volume of a cylinder:

    V = π r² h

    height h = 10ft

    diameter d = 5ft

    Find the radius r:

    r = d/2 = 2.5ft

    So we're ready to compute the volume:

    V = π (2.5 ft)² ×10 ft

    = 62.5 π ft³

    = 196.349541 cubic feet (approx)

    You want to convert to gallons:

    196.349541 cubic feet = 1468.79656 gallons

    http://www.google.com/search?q=196.349541%20cubic%...

    So about 1470 gallons, if you want to round it off.

    Note that the answerer below does not realize that a cubic foot is not the same as a gallon.

    The well is a cylinder. The volume of a cylinder is found by finding the area of the base(circle) and multiplying it times the height.

    Area of a circle is (pi)r^2 So, (3.14)(2.5)^2 times the height of 10. Your answer will be in cubic ft. Look up and see how many gallons are in 1 cubic ft. of water.

    Hope this will help!

    The well is a cylinder. The formula for the volume if a cylinder is pi x the radius squared x height. So the volume of the water in your well is 196.25 cubic feet. A cubic foot of water is equal to 7.48 gallons. If your measurements are correct, you have approx. 1500 gallons of water. (It actually came out to 1467.95)

    volume = (pi)(r^2)(h)

    volume = (3.14)(2.5^2)(10)

    volume = (3.14)(6.25)(10)

    volume = 196.25 gallons
