I was shocked to see "A Haunting" On the Discovery channel... How about you?
I was watching the discovery channel at like 11, which is rare for me, and I was very dissapointed to see that the discovery channel, which has given us so much good science over the years, has a show on it called "A Haunting," which is about supposedly real stories of hauntings and posessions in it, even shittily played out by dumb looking actors. I watched an entire episode, thinking that the scientists were going to come out and tear the **** out of these people's stories, but it never happened. I was utterly dissapointed, and spent the whole day pondering weather hanging myself, or lighting myself on fire in the Discovery Channel building's parking lot with a rude note would send a louder protest...
Anyways, what do you think of it??!
What do you think of the show being on a supposedly reputable show, I mean.
Channel, I meant to say.
I'm not offended by it, I just think they should look at it scientifically, instead of saying that these things happened 100% for sure, just because of testimonies, which are not proof at all.

I agree on one point I would like to see scientists look into it. I'm not going to call the people telling these stories liars with out some proof. Please try to keep an open mind and understand that eye witness testimony is a part of science. I have yet to see ghosts disproved. And given some limited proof that they do exist it should be looked into further.

Yeah, that must have been real hard for you....
What time was it on? Was it a special or is it a series?
You have to admit that ghost stories and the like are entertaining, and that's what the Discovery Channel, TLC, etc. are going for. Its not the science validity channel.

people are starting to notive the rise in supernatural activity.
as for the show. i think that they spend too much time trying to make it scary with music and melodramatic acting and such. but i think that they tell the story.
it is the Discovery Channel. and this is something that a lot of people hava a lot of intrest in. they air shows about other religions and indigenous tribal beliefs. why not hauntings?

How do you know, for sure, the topic is utter BS? What personal research and investigations have you been a part of that led you to that conclusion? Are you an arm-chair sceptic? Isn't that...dogmatic? You repeat what someone else has said without doing anything to justify it, right? Than again, if YOU've never seen it, it must not exist, right? Is that logical?

Yeah, it is sensationalism, but unfortunately, that's what passes as entertainment. Of course, we could look at this with a open-mind and say "Okay, the Discovery Channel is trying to make me think about this possibility." Uh, no, I don't think so.

I studied hauntings and other paranormal activities at Glasgow university , tutored by members of the SSPR , including Archie Roy .... acclaimed astronomer and author
I am sure that if it was all nonsense he wouldn't have studied it for years going on to do lectures about it

A bit harsh don't you think? You could have turned the tv off but by watching it you helped bump up ratings... Advice : You don't have to be tolerant but you better watch out for what offends you
they are equally as deadly!

Scientists? You mean like those global warming kooks? Some people refer to them as scientists too. I think they are computer gamers with government grants. There is no science any longer.

I hate that.
I gave up on the History Channel a couple of years ago, for similar reasons.
