If it is permanent then it will probably stay quite dark, may fade slightly but not much.
If it is semi-permanent it will definitely fade - I had my hair dyed chocolate at a salon and it looked black and I freaked out because I looked really pale... but outside the salon I realized it was just really really dark brown (I'm assuming yours would be the same, I doubt it would be like a proper black) and a couple of washes later it had faded to the colour I wanted.
Alternatively there are some colour stripper products in the supermarkets which I guess you could give a try, I'm not sure what brands they are or whether they are good - I think you may have to act fast though. Also if it is a semi-permanent, anti-dandruff shampoo will definitely fade the colour, which is why hairdressers tell you *not* to use them on coloured hair.
A side note, don't worry about what others think, it's pretty slack if people judge you on your hair colours... and further, black hair is very popular at the moment and lots of people are doing it, not just 'goths' or 'emos' ... that's just a stereotype. :)
Good luck!!

what color is your hair naturally? if your hair is already dark and you were trying for a shade darker then it prob wopnt fade but if it is naturally lighter and you dyed it dark brown, then yes it will... my hair is naturally dark blond and i can dye it the darkest brown and within a week it is light brown.... like 3 or 4 shades lighter... your hair may or may not fade that much, but yes- it will fade. If it isnt fading "fast" enopugh.. try a clarifying shampoo.. it is designed to get oil, residue and dirt out of your hair but also it will helt to strip some of the color in your hair... id say wait about a week from when you died it and see if it has faded to wha tyou want before you go to another option.

Well if its brown on the box then it should fade to brown unless you had black hair to begin with
my guess you had light brown since it didnt turn green
it always takes haircolor a couple days to fade out

Since when did just having black hair make you goth or emo? I have preppy friends who dye their hair black (it's better than blonde.) Get over it. And no, it won't fade. BLACK does not fade. It's black. Unless it was semi-permanent, it's NOT coming out.

Yes it will fade. My friend got red highlights, and they turned out BRIGHT red. Then, after she washed it a couple of times, it turned out to be light. It looked cute.

notwithstanding the suited thank you to get it adjusted rapidly is to bypass to a salon and get it died returned to the coloration you wanted, the slower way is on no account to apply a shampoo and conditioner mushy adequate for coloured hair. applying a clarifying shampoo and conditioner strips the colour slowly yet truly.
