I know how to help! I just answered a question just like this and here is what I said:

I recently went on a flight by myself and I had the same problem.

So I told myself if I worry so much I will not be able to enjoy my flight. When you get to the place your going you will have fun. Think about that not about the flight.

Try to make your flight fun because when your having fun time flies faster. Also don't sleep alot the night before so you can sleep on the plane. Sit by the window because when you take off you can see everything near and far it is so cool!

BRING LOTS OF GUM OR CHEWY THINGS FOR TAKEOFF AND LANDING.

If you don't your ears will pop and it will make your ears hurt.

Flying is fun once you get used to it. It is the safest way of travel too. So don't worry because there really is nothing to worry about.

    Hope I helped out!

This is a good question!! I have not flown since 1992 and I will finally be flying from Phoenix to Ontario, California in December to go home for the holidays. Im a little nervous myself, but I think the best thing is to say a prayer. Just ask God to be with you and to be around you. That will be your greatest strength!!!! You will be okay....just have faith!!!!!! I wish you well and I hope that your fear of flying will subside!!! Let me know how it goes!!!!!!!!

  • I have flown before and i must admit i needed 'help' from my gp the last time i flew........ I would be able to fly again but i will again be uneasy about it...but my way of thinking is that it STILL is the safest way to travel...

i have heard good reports on these courses your partner mentions....give the course a try!

From the very first time i flew, i just had to steel up my courage, i would suggest in your case a school to teach you about flying would be an excellent idea, they teach you about the mechanics, what to expect, noises, what happens on lift off and coming down, and i believe take you on a flight with someone going through all the details to allay your fears. I still haven't got over mine, but i have a few glasses of wine beforehand, bit of dutch courage.

I have a slight fear (especialy when flying alone ) but its not major i just get a bit jumpy and my imagination go's haywire, ive found that taking kalms helps me, (herbal tabs like natural valium ) also a wee drink on the aeroplane helps me forget, If you are that bad perhaps you should seek help from a hypnotist or one of these courses , but i swear calms work a treat for me .You will be so proud of yourself if you manage to do it, and think of all the lovely places you can visit. Goodluck

I am terrified of flying but know that to go on a nice holiday I must get on the plane. So I always have to go to the doctors and he gives me Diazapan which really does work.

I used to be a real mess when flying-constantly looking at the cabin crew to see if they looked happy or concerned that we were about to crash in to the sea!Totally neurotic!!!The tablets just relax you-like after having a couple of glasses of wine.

I flew for the first time this year,i was really nervous, and never thought i could do it,but all i was thinking about is getting to Tenerife, that's where i went on my holiday,i believe that you have to think about where your going to and look forward to that, then all the fears just go away.

I have someone who is petrified too, and must attend an event in Canada!

Tranquillisers I think are the best option.
