Can someone help me with my new computer? It has Windows Vista?
For some reason my new computer won't allow me to download certain programs even though I have turned down the firewalls. I didn't want Norton Virus protection that came with it so I tried to install MacAfee virus protection. The computer went crazy and locked up. When I finally got back in it said that Windows Vista wasn't installed and made me reinstall windows then it booted MacAfee out of the computer and completely erased the MacAfee program too.
Believe me this really happened.
Does anyone know what I did wrong?
I made sure that I got rid of Norton before I installed McAfee.

First thing you did wrong was start toying with your new PC before asking for advice.
Second thing you did wrong was installing McAfee.
You are lucky that you got Vista restored without issues.
Uninstall Nortons, and install AVG Anti-virus Free Edition.
In that order.
AVG uses much less resources than Nortons or McAfee. It is completely free.
CNET: "AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition is the most popular free solution available at no cost to home users and provides the high level of detection capability that millions of users around the world trust to protect their computers."

Did you remove Norton before installing MacAfee? As in, completly remove. Firewall programs are notorious for not 'getting along'!

Have you uninstalled Norton first before installing McAffe? Installing 2 anti-virus at one os will conflict each other and may cause instability within your files.
