washing machine leaking from hot tap lead?

I have just swapped over washing machines, i have borrowed the hot tap lead from the old one and have put it on the new one. It is now leaking and it did not leak before when it was on the old machine. It is exactly the same size and I even put a new washer on it just to see if this was the problem. Any ideas? I don't think i can physically put it on any tighter. The original lead is fine but some doughnut put the tap too near the wall so that you cannot affix the pipes and the new plug at the end of the lead has ridges on it :( Bored and wet now

A lot of washers can leak oil depending on make and model. The most likely are the front loaders. However top loader can too just as easy. More or less its all due to a bad tub seal as either bearing have gotten water into them bleeding oil back into the tub (oil is lighter than water) or a trans mission that is leaking and a bad tub seal can do this. Even on a rare occassion rotary transmissions that blew a drive seal can send their oil up the drive tube and dump it into the basket. So nothing is impossible dude. IT IS the apartments responsibility to replace and maintain all appliances within that are used in a normal operating fashion. If they don't... law suit. To start the slum lord law suit, write a letter concerning the machines defects and damages to clothing and send it to managment with signature required. Theres a record that they have personally signed for your letter of concern. Next tally up your loss so you have a damage report of clothing destroyed and save the clothes. Now if the landlord doesnt do anything, time to contact a laywer for the next step. We had to do this because crappy managment gave us a fridge from a differnat apartment from some trashy people and had roaches, then we has roaches. 2 weeks went by with no exterminator, sent that letter..... 2 days exterminator was knocking on the door. Atleast they weren't stupid on our end and knew what was about to happen.

Remove the hot tap pipe from the leaking end and check the washer hasn't split by overtightening it. When connecting the pipe always support the pipe with one hand and screw it in with the other hand to ensure it goes on straight. All plastic type fittings should be tightened hand tight and then another quarter of a turn only.

You should always replace the pipes when you change the machine, they are not everlasting and do deteriorate with age, if the original had a bit of debris on the flange, it will have worn the flange, washer won't seal it because the debris isn't there anymore. Change the pipes!

First thing to do is get a dictionary. One of those that translates English into Polish. Then phone for a plumber, but make sure you know the Polish words for "Leaking hot tap lead." You should be able to get it fixed then

It could be that you have actually over tightened the hose and the new washer has split, that happened to me with an outside tap, my son put on another new washer and didn't tighten it so much and it is fine.

Make sure that the surface that the washer touches on the machine and valve is clean and smooth. It can't make a good seal otherwise. You may also want to try new hoses.

You may have overtightened the nut and stripped part of the thread enabling water to escape, try some ptfe tape and new washer, failing that replace the hose.
