I'm looking for a no contract dsl modem?

I'm looking for a modem that i don't have to pay for every month. I would like a dsl modem no cable modems. I looking for a modem that works around 5 mbps or higher. I don't mind if it is one of those 3-in-1 modems with wirless router and stuff.

i do not care how much it costs. It can be from any company but i prefer Linksys, Dlink, At&t, and Netgear.

Update 2:

i do not indend to hack an internet service i just wondoering if there is such a thing

Update 3:

you can buy a dsl modem from any company that provides dsl or from a store like walmart. But you will have to pay for dsl service from a provider monthly and start out in a contract.

Check out this one from www.tigerdirect.com .

You will still need the DSL internet service from your provider but this modem is a DSL modem and a 4 port router combined so you won't have to purchase a modem from your provider. However - Most DSL plans now a days provide you with a free modem anyway so I'm not sure what is going on with your service. If you are thinking just having a DSL modem will give you dsl service then you need to do some research on the subject because it just doesn't work that way - the dsl service has to be provided by a dsl carrier (your phone company or someone else) over your phone line and you need the modem to convert the signal so that your computer can use it.

dsl modems only work through their respected providers... and thus.. you have to pay for it... every month.

its not if you use it or not... you see.. DSL is a service that has to be activated to your residence.... as long as it is activated, you are charged. Doesnt matter if you have a free modem...

phone companies aint gonna over look you....

You can buy any router/modem for dsl, there is no contract for this. You do, however, need to subscribe to an isp for broadband, otherwise it is no use whatsoever.

How do you plan on getting the DSL signal if you don't pay for it? It doesn't just come on your phone line. It has to be provisioned on your phone line which takes an order which results in monthly billing.

  • yeah... you cant have dsl without subscription, unless you have a way to do it yourself which is insane. but if you just need a modem, i got one from quest for about $70. just call them up!
