Hey mates:-)To those of you who practice a few hours every day...?

Hi,like most of you I'm a hard training tennis player.I wanna ask you what's your motivation to devote so much time to tennis and what is the thing that inspires you?Do you always do your best during practices?

Update:

To one good tennis fan:

I couldn't agree more.Btw I've read your answer to Dancevic's question before and I agree that preparation is very important if you want to feel comfortably on the court.

I also adore tennis and there isn't a thing I'm not ready to do for the sake of tennis(training in all kinds of weather, temperatures and conditions as well as making sacrifices).I hope to get in a collge team one day.

P.S. Sorry for calling you mate.Ididn't knew it was a stereotype in the USA,I'm Bulgarian.

Hey sunny_babe, that's a great question! I'm gonna answer from my own personal experience but when you get a chance, check out the answer on my profile that won best answer from pro tennis player Frank Dancevic. It's relevant to your question.

When I played competitively in college (way too long ago, haha) I practiced like a madman! I did it for two reasons but one primary one.

The secondary reason was competitive drive. I wanted to know that when I stepped onto the court whether it was playing practice sets or for a real tournament, I was prepared. I wanted to give myself the best chance to win. That way, when I walked off the court, I had no regrets even if I lost. I wanted to be able to tell everyone that I left it all on the court.

I expected the same from my opponents because I never wanted my wins to be suspect. If you can't beat someone at their best, how do you know who the better player is? I wanted them to be able to say the same of me. If they beat me, I wanted them to know that they beat me at my best.

But my primary reason for training was for the love of the game. I LOVED being on the court! I was obsessed with it. I've played in rain, in snow (yes I actually played in the snow...more than once) and in 100 degree weather simply because I relished the time I had on the court!

The sound of a brand new can of balls being cracked open are the sweet violins in a symphony to my ears. The crisp pop of the ball hitting the sweet spot...the percussion section. The anticipation of awaiting your opponent's first serve...the epic crescendo! And the grunt that comes when you go for the winner...a powerful choral group ushering in the end of the match!

Wow, sorry about that. I went all Shakesperean on you. LOL!

Anyway, thanks for the question. Answering it brought back some great memories!

    Keep it between the lines!
