Penile discharge?
I'm curious to know if any of you have experienced this with your dog... and *of course* I'm taking my dog to the vet...
Our 9mo neutered dog has had a discharge at the tip of his penis for about a week. I thought it would clear up, but it hasn't, and it's leaving nasty yellow/ green opaque stains on our sheets!! Did your dog ever have this, and was it thrush, or a UTI or something else?
I assumed it was smegma, but there's rather a lot of it!

We've had a couple of dogs come in with some green discharge. Usually it's from a bacterial infection if they are neutered. Glad to hear you're taking him to the vet.

I can think of 3 possible explanations: 1. You're confusing the 'wet genitalia' with discharge when its actually sweat (which is absolutely normal) 2. You have urinary incontinence and leak urine while sleeping. 3. You have an STD , some STD's (like Chlamydia) are asymptomatic and go unnoticed for years while being swapped between your sex partner. Best thing to do is to consult with your doc.

Sounds like schmegma to me. A natural discharge of a dogs penis. Usually is worse when they are intact but can happen when they are neutered. But always better to have your vet check it out.

They can actually get a infection on it. They pick up bacteria all the time when it goes in and out. The vet can give you a topical ointment to get rid of it. If it is really bad then they might give oral meds. Good Luck with your new puppy.

My dog gets this too and I don't know what it is. He is not neutered. Maybe it's excitement. Do you have females dogs around?
