Airbag warning light comes on and stays on while driving?
I OWN A 2001 MAZDA TRIBUTE SUV AND RECENTLY MY AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT STARTED FLASHING WHILE DRIVING, NOW IT COMES ON AND STAYS ON WHILE DRIVING, CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT OTHER THAN TAKING IT TO THE MAZDA DEALER?

You will have to go to the dealer to have it diagnosed and repaired. the light is telling you there is a fault in the system. The light being on, also disables your airbag system, so if you were in an accident you are not protected.

get it fixed very soon, very rarely they will go off for no reason when something is wrong with them.
call repair shoppes and ask if they can fix the airbag system.
the factory repair manual should tell them how to do it if they have it, but being that they are several hundred for the books, my guess is that mazda will be the best for that sort of thing.

Go to any Autozone or similar outfit and ask them if they have a OBD II code reader. They generally will let you use it for free (with refundable deposit). Plug it in, follow the instructions and see if your On Board Diagnostic (hence OBD) indicates that you have an error some place. In most instances it will let you reset the code and then if it comes back on in a few miles you know that you have a real issue and what it involves.

Get thee to a mechanic. Quickly.
The system has detected a flaw in your airbag system.

Is your car under warranty? If so this is the dealers problem..If not I advise to to contact VW headquarters.. In cases like this they generally contact your local service center themselves and have the problem fixed while at the same time giving you a rental car. The service centers don't intend to tell you this but it happened to me and this is what they done to fix it.
