Can an air conditioner carry a virus or make you sick?

I have an old wall A/C in my apartment...this year I've gotten a lot of bronchitis. It always seems like I get sick after sitting home in front of the air conditioner on a hot weekend.

The actual air conditioner can't make you sick nor does the cold air coming from it. It is the air that is circulating through it that contains bacteria and germs that causes colds and so forth. Virus' linger in the air, and if someones who's been to your place was sick could have spread the virus. Enclosure in a car with the air on is more likely to spread germs than at home. Clean your air conditioner and keep it in optimal shape. Also, acute bronchitis usually follows a cold and is harder to get rid of and can last weeks. Remember: virus' cause colds, not cold air.

Well the CFCs (Chlorofluorocarbons) released into the air from air conditioners in the past are toxic to the environment and have been contributed to the depletion of the ozone layer, which is a protective layer around planet Earth that protects us from most of the sun's harmful rays. When this layer is broken down, the earth heats up and this contributes to global warming. All the ecosystems on the planet become out of balance and in the end, humans suffer. When the ozone layer depletes, more harmful rays would mean more health problems, such as skin cancer. Also, drought becomes more common as the temperature heats up and that means famine for a lot of populations. The number of insects increase since the earth has warmed up and the cold periods are less and thus have not killed off the insects. This would lead to more infectious diseases as these are also spread by insects. As people lose food due to the drought and become sick because of the virus-carrying insects, society becomes at a disadvantage. Resources are scarce and this leads to poverty, crime, etc.

im not sure if it can carry a disease, but I do know that it can cause different types of mold in the bottom of the air conditioners, which can make you sick especially in the bottom of them. It can also give you some rather nasty allergies. My home is full of air conditioners and I stay sick all summer long because of the allergens it introduces into my home.

It can be possible.I think that you're sitting continuously in front of A/C.And you got sick due to attack of virus.Because, the viruses are very tiny, and can be seen thru Microscope only.If you 're habitual of sitting in A/c room. Then you've to be very careful. Please, close the or shut off the A/c for few hours,

Becasue, your room would be quite cool. Also, the atmosphere in the room would be quite sufficient for sitting for long time. And, if you are'nt feeling good, then you can meet a Physician.
