What other things might be able to cause the same trouble with my company cell phone?

I just drowned my company cell phone in water. and its not coming back. The only thing that its doing now is just a constant vibrate. Their is no more screen nothing. Is there anything else that could cause this? I can't exatly tell my boss what really happened?

Update:

with the liquid damage indicator is it possible that that could happen if i left the phone in the bathroom where a hot steamy shower was?

Software could possibly do this, but most cell phones have liquid damage indicators that turn red when they have been exposed to moisture (any kind)----so even if you did lie about it chances are you will be found out.

And absolutely it could be possible that it would happen if the phone was left in the bathroom when a hot shower was going.
