How far will the New York Mets go in the 2007 MLB playoffs?
I am a big admirer of the New York Mets. Omar Minaya and Willie Randolph, along with the rest of the cast, have brought a newfound respect to the organization. I feel that even though they've been injury plagued this year, they have played hard and battled all season, and I think that's been overlooked.
So my question is, if they can stay healthy, how far will the New York Mets go in the 2007 post season? And why?

Considering how many times they've choked since the Curse of Kevin Mitchell began after the 1986 season, they'll be lucky to make it at all. I still see the Phillies coming back to win the Division and the Mets missing the Playoffs completely.
Think there's no curse? Then explain the '88 NLCS loss to the vastly inferior Dodgers, a decade of mediocrity at best, dropping the last 5 games of '98 to miss the Playoffs by one game, Kenny Rogers walking home a Pennant-winning run in '99, losing to THE YANKEES in five games in 2000, another strip of mediocrity, and losing the '06 Pennant on a homer by the third Molina brother and a called third strike on the supposedly great Carlos Beltran. The Mets are cursed.

Since you added the "if healthy" qualifier, that's how I'll answer this. If they're healthy, they should have no problem winning the pennant. They have the most balance in terms of hitting and pitching of anyone in the NL. Yes, their staff is not dominant, but it is solid. Their bullpen hasn't been performing well lately, but there's no reason to say they can't get back to where they were for the playoffs. The lineup may not be as fearsome as Philadelphia or Milwaukee, but they're not pushovers, plus they have the added weapon of speed. Then, since there is really no dominant team in the AL, it would not surprise me to see them win the whole thing.

The mets should be able to go all the way to the world series as long as they remain healthy.

Due to the age of their starters Pedro, Glavine, and Hernandez along the bull pen being somewhat shaky as of late I would have to say, they will go as far as their bats can carry them.

As long as they dont have to face St Louis, they should make it to the big dance.
