What is your response if I walked over and ate with you?

I wanted to do that the other day, this guy was at the table next to me. We were both obviously on our lunch breaks, why not chat it up...but chickened out.

That would depend. If I were enjoying reading I would probably be sorry you had decided to join me. If, on the other hand, you looked like you needed company, I would do my best to be friendly.

I'd be amused as long as you actually said something to me. I have always wanted to try that.

I'd probably say "grab a seat."

. . . although if you were female I'd almost definitely say "grab a seat!"

As long as you pay your own way and have manners it would be okay.
