Winlogon.exe?

While doing a virus scan on one of my employees computers, I came across a virus on the Winlogon.exe file. I've done a little bit of research and realize that this file is critical for the windows systems.

Is it possible to just replace this file somehow. I'm looking for a way to fix it without a reformat as there is a ton of information on the system and backing things up would greatly slow down production

    Here's your expert advice!

    Start in safe mode.

When you get to your desktop go to:

    C:\Windows

    and delete the Winlogon.exe file.

The one Windows uses is in the C:\Windows\System32 folder.

the first mentioned is the virus.

That is a virus. Do not mistake the file for a legit MS process. I would recommend you post a HJT log and get expert advice on how to proceed.
