Why oh why? We r so being conned!?

Here is my rant of the week!

Why is that crisp packets are twice the size of what they need to be? The crisps are never filled to the top so whats the need for a ridiculously sized bag!

Oh and has any1 else noticed that curly wurlys and wagon wheels have shrunk?

When i was a kid they were some what bigger then what they are now!

Wagon wheels are definitely smaller since they reintroduced them some years ago - you're not seeing things.

However, a few years ago I bought one for nostalgia's sake. I was truly appalled to realise how disgusting they actually are! I used to love them as a kid, now they make me want to hurl. Same goes for Ready Brek. Ugh...

Crisps are in a larger bag, to retain freshness of flavour, or

rather to give an impression of better value for money, when

they increase the price. Marketing strategy ?

Wagon Wheels have been shrinking for many years.

Burtons, manufacturers, have got wise. Reminds me of

three wheels on my wagon, ....& I'm still rolling along....!

Curly Wurlys, have shrunk since Terry Scott stopped doing the advert & died...probably eating one ...!

The crisp packets are the same size but the contents shrink. It's an easy way of putting up the price without asking for more cash.

And they can add tags like 'now with fewer calories' and 'less salt' etc without actually improving the quality.

Like most snack foods, they are a bit of a con.

Crisp packets are bigger than they need to be because the crisps are protected form being all smashed by being in an air 'bubble'.

But you're right on the other things stuff is shrinking!

monster munch are smaller, they used to be a mouthful as a kid but now there tiny. :-(

Yes I had noticed that ,crisp bags are filled with air to make them look full, but when you open the bag its a different story it is one of my pet hates.Wagon wheels were made smaller when decimalization came in.

  • Yes, I agree.

I also don't like the way the petrol stations only sell those bigger bags of crisps - Big Eat or something they're called. My eldest likes to have some as a treat on a journey and I don't like him to eat so much. They're only for greedy people IMO.

I know what you mean. I remember crisp packets used to be bursting with crisps. Nowadays you get a few little shrivelled crisps at the bottom.

I only ever eat crisps at a party. They come on a plate then not in a bag.

havent noticed the curly wurlys but i do agree with you about the crisps!
