Yeah, but the frozen creek was more fun. It was beside the elementary school, and there were all kinds of balls stuck in the ice. A hatchet was able to break them free, and we had lots of basketballs, baseballs, red dodge-balls,footballs, softballs, and even a few wiffle balls.

The problem came a mile down the creek, when the ice underneath me broke. I fell through the ice, and every time I would try to grab on to it to pull myself out, it would just keep breaking off more. Eventually I got close enough to the shore that I could stand up, and just kept breaking my way through.

Then we started walking home, but I was freezing. So we got into someone's garage, and I stripped down and put my clothes in their dryer. Little did we know that the lady was not only home, but that she worked with my mother. She took care of us, and got me warmed up with a blanket and some hot cocoa. But as soon as we were out the door, she called my mother and ratted us out. Mom was NOT a happy camper!
