I would have to pick the CRV in that bunch due to the reliability improvement.
Have a look at the Toyota RAV4 though. It is about the same price as the CRV but comes with a very powerful V-6 with surprisingly good fuel economy and respectable towing ability and an available 3rd row of seats. It won out in Consumer Report's small-ute comparo...once you drive it, I don't think you'll have a hard time choosing which one to get.

I would buy the Honda UNLESS you need all wheel drive.
I know someone who paid $3000+ to rebuild a Subaru automatic transmission. Then he paid $3000 again the next year to rebuild it again.
If the CRV is available with AWD, and if you need that feature, buy the Honda.
In that same category you should consider Toyota Rav4.

SUV's are out. in case you prefer area interior the returned different then to easily have junk interior the trunk then evaluate a crossover. SUV's as an entire are gas guzzlers by way of fact they're all truck based. A crossover is vehicle based and gets you extra useful gas financial device. i like the Toyota Matrix advice ... basically keep in mind gas expenditures are on the up and extra then probably right here to stay. you may desire to think of long term once you purchase a vehicle so an SUV purchase could be very, very painful.

Look, I sell Hondas so Any answer I give seems biased, so go to Honda.com and compare the CR-V to the Subaru. Oh yeah, Add the RAV4 and Huyndai Santa Fe to the list. Good car just *no* resale!
