Speedo Endurance suits vs Speedo Flipturns suits. Help!?

My daughter has always worn Speedo Endurance suits to practice. I love them because they don't fade and last forever. Lycra suits seem to last only 6-8 weeks and I feel they are a waste of money. I would like to get feedback on the Speedo Flipturns suits that are 85% polyester and 15% xtra life lycra. The styles and patterns are really cute, but I don't want to spend a lot on a suit if they won't last very long.

How long before they start to fade? Do they keep their shape or start to stretch out like Lycra? How long do they last? How do you like them compared to the Endurance suits? Please share your experience. Thanks.

The flipturn and the endurance both have their own advantages. The flip turn is generally more comfortable of a suit and has the ability to stretch, something the endurance does not have, also the flip turn allows for greater range of motion and less shoulder pressure due to flexibility (this comes with the axle back). While the suits can stretch out like Lycra it takes a very long time (about 3.5-4 months of six-day-a-week practice at 3 hours each) for the suits to fade. The flipturn is better tighter fitting and more able to be used in competition.

The endurance will last quite a long time, but is rather itchy and has no ability to stretch, making the suit less fitted and less able to accommodate the swimmer. Range of motion can be restricted because of the strap set-up and the inability to stretch to meet a swimmers needs. The suits tend not to fade, but they also have a very redundant theme to then, because wearing the same suit everyday for a year is like wearing the same sweatshirt everyday for a year; unappealing. Also, while I don't know what age your daughter is, an endurance does not have the ability to stretch to meet the needs of her growing body, while a flipturn does.

Personally, I prefer a mixture of both suits, jumping for suit to suit everyday never waring the same suit two days in a row. My favorite would be the flipturn, however, for its extreme versatility and the ability to substitute as a racing suit as need be.

    Hi,

I'm 13 and swim atleast 5 x a week, i have had the endurance suits and they are GREAT! I got 2 for my 9th b-day and wore them till this last year and they were pretty much the only suits i practiced in, i have had the flipturns too, they were better than the lycra but not even close to as well as the endurance. Hope this helps!

Flip turns is a competition suit; Endurance is a training suit. I've only seen solids and two-tones in the Endurance line. I think the endurance suits weigh about twice as much as a competition suit. You didn't tell us why you want the combo. Do you want a competitive suit that lasts longer? Or a more colorful long lasting suit? If it's the latter, find a polyester suit from a different manufacturer (like Dolfin.) Otherwise I think you're out of luck.
