What are the penalties for falsifying credit or debit card claims?

Someone I know is attempting to cover up a "mistake" they made and I am going to try and stop them from compounding on it. I just want to know some of the legal issues that follow such a stupid attempt to weasel out of a situation.

    it's a felony.......no big deal...just 1yr MINIMUM in jail.

anything that was bought with a credit card....and the merchandise was received through the mail....is MAIL FRAUD. there are thousands of ppl doing it...so i dont know if your friend will get caught. if it is a huge amount...over 5k....then they can do serious time..with the FBI knocking on their door.

don't get involved you could be considered a accomplice. even if after the fac`t and face jail time yourself. they would consider what they do a feleny and what you do to help them could be a feleny as well. good luck and best wishes.

You need an attorney's advise. I wouldn't get involved. Believe me that friend won't appreciate it anyway and if it gets bad, you'll be the scapegoat they will blame.

It depends on where you are. In Saudi Arabia it is considered theft and they cut your right hand off for that infraction.
