Bordetella?!?!?
My dog is getting the Bordetella (Kennel Cough) injection tomorrow. I am going to take her to a day camp program like once a week or so, therefore I am getting the shot.
Since she is getting the shot tomorrow, how long do I wait before I should bring her to the camp??
Thanks in advance for any advice!
She is 1-1/2 yrs old.

Best bet is ask the vet when you get the vaccination. There are both the intranasal and injection. The intranasal, I believe needs 48 hrs. I don't know about the injection, I have not used it since the intranasal has become available.
The camp will also most likely have a time period stated before they allow your dog to attend, so check with them too.

I think you should reconsider. The shot only covers a few of MANY strains and the shot also poses a risk for adverse reactions that in my opinion is not worth the risk. I believe you would be far better off dealing with kennel cough if the dog gets it rather then subeject her to potentially harmful and useless vaccine. Kennel cough in a healthy dog can be treated with a simple round of antibiotics where as the results of the shot could cause a lifetime of problems. Please do some research and do not let people scare you over this disease. It is no worse then the common cold in the majority of cases and many vets including the American Veterinary Association do not even recommend it.

Make an informed decision.

if she has never had a bordetella vaccine then she will need a booster 3 weeks after the first one. the vaccine will take at least 2 weeks before it is effective in the dogs system.

I would ask the vet when you get the shot. But when we got our dog the shot, we didn't have to wait long - no more than a day or two.

2 weeks...
however please be aware, the bordatella vacine is only effective in about 70% of cases, many boarding and daycare facilities require it however you shoudl still be on the lookout for kennel cough symptoms as dogs CAN still get it even wwith the vacine!
