The reverse light "switch" would be my starting place. It is a small metal switch under a plastic connector found attatched to the gear box. I believe it is underneath, or on the left side, but it will be the ONLY switch. (it changes position on every model (205, 405 on top)

Use a small flat screwdriver to pry the thin wire clip holding it fast. Lift the plastic connector straight off. Your lamp should NOT be on now. (no electricity going to the switch)

I think the metal switch, still in the gearbox, it is stuck in the "closed" position, therefore always giving electricity to your white reverse lamp. It wouldn't hurt to tap around it with a small hammer to loosen / jar it. Put the elecric wires back on. Same probelm? You should replace it. You'll need a spanner to unscrew / remove it.

No problem? You have proved that the switch can stick closed.
