~~seasoning packet expiration date~~?
I have 2 packets of seasoning for hot wings (a dry mix of spices, etc.) I don't see an expiration date anywhere on them...can they get bugs...being sealed? I opened one up to check it out & saw black specks but they were teeny & I'm thinkin' they're just spices...what do YOU think?...safe to use?
it's a unique seasoning packet that i can't find anymore & I was going to make them for a potluck at work on Thursday...bad idea? They still smell fragrant & fresh...how do you tell if they are stale?

It's just dried spices. You'll be fine. It's pepper. Spices go stale after a long time. I'm sure you can remember if you've bought it within the last year or not.

OK first you need to weigh your options..
the cost of the seasoning verses the cost of the wings.
Say you use the seasoning on your wings. The wings taste bad because of the outdated spice. So now your out the cost of the wings.....
What costs more, the spice or the wings. You need to do a price comparison.
Or you could save the seasoning for when your planning on having guest over. Serve it to them. If the seasoning is bad they will not say anything.

When in doubt, throw them away.
You are probably right that they are safe enough to eat, but spices lose their potency over time, so fresh would be better.
