is original, almost seven years old! So far, so good but can I trust it this winter? I live in PA.

As long as you don't leave your lights on and you close your doors right, yes. I just replaced mine this February, thing is, my car is a 15 year old Ford Tempo GL with over 140,000 miles on it. That battery lasted for about ten years. You probably don't have anything to worry about. You should probably get it tested though, just in case. By the way, Ferret doesn't know what he's talking about. A good battery is about $80.00 with ten dollars off if you bring in your old battery. with labor, it's a little bit more ,I'm not sure how much.

The life expectancy for a car battery is about 5 years. Like mentioned before, if it passes the load test is fine. But expect to go out any time. Now is a waiting game on when is going to give up. If you worry about the winter, is a cheap insurance to replace it now, since you can drive the car to a shop and still warm outside, if you want to do the work. Personally I hate to work on a freezing day. Also if you live in an area that is hard to get help, I do it now.

That is real good for a battery. I have never had one last that long in any of my cars. You must do regular maintenance on it to last that long. Are you have any trouble with your battery now and if you are not. I would not get one but i would keep a eye on your battery that you have now.

The only way of testing it is with a "load tester" and preferably when the battery is cold (below 32F or 0C) If it passes, don't worry about it.

Get it tested at a parts store. If you're not sure, buy a new one. $60 is cheap insurance if you ask me.
