Where can I get help to move back to New Orleans?

I wanted to go back to my hometown now that it is making progress from the Katrina devastation. I haven't received any help from FEMA since January 2006 and the town I'm living in is very small and it's been difficult to adjust to both on a personal and financial level. I lost everything to Katrina and it's been hard living in a smaller town with no family or friends, just trying to make it. I was in better shape at home and I can easily get back in school with no trouble. I was just wondering if there are any agencies still available to help some of us who haven't returned home but wants to.

We, too, lost everything to Katrina and it is hard starting over again. I agree that churches can be a big help, but also contact the Red Cross in New Orleans. They should have lists of different agencies that you can contact for help moving back home. We aren't going back to New Orleans but go back every so often. Where are you?

New Orleans is a first-class location to reside and no longer only a holiday vacation spot. Realize that among the matters traveller do are readily matters citizens were doing all alongside. Do discover a task earlier than you progress to New Orleans (or anyplace else). The different solutions are proper approximately parking being a obstacle within the French Quarter. It's a distinctive location to reside if in case you have reserved, off-avenue parking (= high priced) or don't want a vehicle. Apart from parking, the down-part to residing within the FQ is that it is very city and one begins to overlook greenery after a whilst. City Park is a million.five miles instantly up Esplanade Avenue. EmiSaint is proper approximately crime. I have lived in new Orleans for a long time and the one obstacle I have ever had was once a vehicle holiday-in as soon as (a long time in the past while I lived within the Treme vicinity). I lived within the CBD & French Quarter for 2006/2007 and wandered round in any respect hours of the night time in quite a lot of states of realization, however the worst that occurred was once two times being courteously solicited for a handout. Good success!

See if you can contact other people who lived in your area. Maybe your church or neighborhood association can give you some pointers.
