Too much swearing in contemporary music?

I'd like to hear from anyone who thinks that there is a lot of gratuitous swearing in the chart-topping songs of today.

I am an entertainer who sings for a (well-paid) hobby.

I find that songs are more enjoyable when you aren't offending peoples senses.

I'd like to hear lots of opinions.

The singers know it will attract the attention of younger people, who possibly think it's big to listen to bad language.

also a good way to mask the lack of talent of the performer.

class acts don't resort to such attention seeking measures

I like it better when it is mild, for instance in the manners of Aerosmith, with occasional swearing, but Steven Tyler sings more in riddles that are like dirty jokes. I think that if you are a little too mellow, people will consider you a bore. An occasional off guard curse word to toss things up is perfect, but don't overdo it.

Swearing is like using exclaimation marks when writing. If you overdo it, you look stupid.

    My opinion...
