I was studying up on Alternative Energy, and...?

I read that using wind power (electricity generated from wind turbines) is actually illegal in Alberta, Canada.

Is this true? What about the rest of Canada?

What reason could they have for making it illegal?

It could be restricted in some areas most likely urban. Dont know how fond of gigantic whirling blades over their houses the Canadians are.

That's absurd. If you did just a tiny bit of research you would have seen the following:

"Ontario will overtake Alberta as the wind-power capital of Canada by the end of the year, in part because Alberta doesn't have enough transmission lines to connect new wind turbines to its power grid.

Alberta produces about 300 megawatts of wind power, concentrated in the Pincher Creek area of southwest Alberta. A single turbine can crank out one megawatt of electricity, enough to power about 500 homes."

If you read on in the article you will learn that Alberta's ability to generate wind power is growing more quickly than its power grid is able to contain it.

With my affection for chilly baked beans, I could keep at least two of these babies running smoothly.

(Although THAT would probably be illegal. What a bummer)
