is an eel a fish and can they breath air on land?

    an Eel is a fish. They have gills and breathe water, and in some cases water vapor they cannot breathe air, they don't have lungs and cannot exchange gases without water. Some eels can live for long periods out of water, but they aren't breathing (exchanging gases) out of water.

    A regular eel is a fish and can not breathe air.

    There is something called a snakehead fish that resembles an eel and can breathe air for as long as a few days.

    Lampreys and hagfish are fish also resembling eels and can not breathe air.

    I believe an eel is a kind of fish, and if you put it on land, it would probably die, I don't think it breathes air.

    A regular salt water eel is a fish and cannot breathe outside of the water.

    there is a type of amphibian which is nicknamed the rubber or Sicilian eel. These are not fish [amphibian] and can therefore breathe air with moist gills.
