how durable are the Berkley gulp alive baits?

can you cast them out repeatedly? do they fall off the hook? how long do they usually stay on the hook? what size hook can you use? how hard or soft are they? are they compareable to soft plastics jigs? do they actually work?

I use Gulp religously, it does work.

For me they tend to stay on a hook fairly well and they are very soft. They do tend to tear up faster than other plastic baits when bit by fish a few times.

Depending on which type of gulp Im using I'll use different hooks. Like Sandeels or Jerkshad I'll use a jighead, for the shrimp I'll fish it just like a live shrimp under a popping cork. And for the crab, I put a slip weight above a treble hook so it floats in the water.

When your done with them, put them back in the bag. They dry out and shrivel up and will be wasted, and they are a pain to get off a hook when they dry up.

Something I forgot to mention, The Freshwater gulp and the Saltwater gulp are almost 2 complety different things for some reason, Ive tested them both out. The freshwater will have the juice wash off real fast, and the saltwater uses a spongetype material that soaks it up and holds the flavor longer.

These things are so-so. I don't typically fish with jigs or live bait, I'm more of a crank bait guy. But I've used these things in the spring to crappie fish. I use them the same way I'd use live bait, with the same rig, just use the Gulps in place of a minnow or a worm or whatever. They get good results the first cast or two, but you might want to dip them back into the bag and get some of the crotch-smelling goo on there after a couple casts. The lose it pretty quick. The other thing is that you need to make sure you seal the bag right!!! I usually put it into another zip lock, just in case. If they leak in your boat or car or whatever, you're SCREWED. And people you take out in your boat will always think you need a shower.

to be honest I even have under no circumstances heard all and sundry making use of it in any respect and if there is any to tell you the reality. whether have you ever used the corn meal corn syrup/ ball, technique? If no longer? it particularly works super right here in NYS. i've got long gone with my uncle's while youthful and function pulled 15 to 25lbs out of a few lakes around the county's of the place I stay . right this is the thank you to make the ball bait . training a million Get out each and every of the climate and a bucket with a lid. 2 Pour the bucket 0.5 full of cracked corn. 3 Open the field of corn starch, and pour the entire field of corn starch into the bucket with the cracked corn. consisting of your hand, stir the cracked corn and corn starch properly. 4 Open the bottle of corn syrup, and pour the entire bottle of syrup into the bucket. 5 Get a huge stirring spoon and initiate stirring. the mixture would be very thick and sticky, and could be puzzling to stir. 6 After stirring slightly with the spoon, initiate rolling the mixture around consisting of your palms, stirring and blending. try this till there is not greater dry corn in the bucket and you will now no longer see the corn starch. 7 as quickly as the bait has been mixed properly sufficient which you would be able to no longer see the corn starch, placed the lid on the bucket and seal tight. This carp bait would properly be fished with top away or it is going to shop a protracted time, in case you would be able to desire to make it earlier than time and use it later. Carp love corn, and this bait will seize carp. 8 once you get waiting to apply the bait, placed a pair of corn pops on your hook; get out a fist full of bait and place the hook with the corn pops on it in the midst of the bait, and p.c.. a good ball around the hook. This bait packs very challenging, yet breaks aside in the water in approximately 5 minutes. Now you're waiting to seize some carp.
