How can the Libs. now claim to have a vision for the future when they have had 11 years to show?
that they stand for dividing the country into the "haves" and "have nots."? They have reduced spending on health, education and a number of other things while increasing spending on the private sector. At the same time they have introduced the most unfair IR laws outside the US and some third world countries. I don't mind if their new vision is honest but if it is the usual lies then I will not be surprised.
Higher IQ. If what you say is correct then why does the federal government have funds available to spend quite freely on private health and education. Why not give the money to the states to spend on these things as they feel appropriate for their states? Don't the Libs fund universities, where they have increased the need for fee paying students by reducing funding? Thereby reducing the availablity of places to people who might be brighter and of more benifit to the country, because they don't have rich parents?

Why do Americans answer these sort of questions when they have no idea of Aussie politics?
If you are American dont bother answering because it makes you look stupid!
Now.....
Howard has as you say had 11 years in power to influence our great country in a good direction, and now he says he has a vision for the future, what the **** was he doing for the last 11 years? wondering if we had a future, trying to work out what his vision was for the future, playing with his marbles? What a fool, does he really expect me to believe his cheap crappy lines like that when he has spent all this time taking our rights away at work and basically supporting the needs of multinational companies at the expense of small business and workers. Ordinary Ausies have brains too johnny, oh yeah and we still have the ballot box too! Bring on the election!
Bye johnny......bye!

That's a good question. In the 11 years that this Government has been in the rich have done very well for themselves. Howard and Costello have continually said that 'Australians have never been better off', whereas what they really mean is that RICH Australians have never been better off.
Those of us who work for a living and have to pay through the nose for everything, are very much worse off. We have the GST (that we were never going to have) on everything as well as every other tax that ever was, continual interest rates hikes, ridiculous petrol prices because of this stupid war and oil companies rampant greed, increasingly high food prices because of crop failures from climate change that Howard has only just acknowledged is actually happening (just after Bush did), inability of an increasing number of Australians to afford to put a roof over their heads, and the continual degradation of Medicare in favour of private health funds that are directly supported by this Government with our tax money.
How are ordinary Australians better off when we don't know if we will still have our jobs tomorrow or if we will be paid a living wage because of the IR laws?
Howards 'vision' for Australia's future is nuclear power plants everywhere, selling uranium to anyone who wants it (as long as it is OK with the yanks), employers being able to pay slave wages and do what they like to their employees and more and more sucking up to the yanks. That's what he has in mind for Australia while him and his cronies continue to abuse their positions with rorts and scams while running along licking George Bush's boots.

Actually, that would be the Republicans you're describing. Liberals and Democrats would be increase spending on education, healthcare, and a number of programs you have constantly dubbed as being "socialist".
