Retail employees: What's the strangest thing you've seen returned?

While waiting in store lines, I've seen customers try to return some pretty bizarre items. Among them are a half-eaten coffee cake (wrong flavor), a dead parakeet, and an already-cooked pot roast (too tough). Takes guts, that's for sure. I'm sure everyone who has worked in a store has seen their share of it. What's the most unbelievable thing you've seen a customer trying to return for a refund?

I worked at the service desk at our local wal-mart for almost 3 years. About a month before I started, someone brought in a t.v. box and got a refund on it. The person working the counter at that time, didn't open it up and check it out or anything, so when it got back to claims, there was a piece of wood in the box, like a stump, NOT a t.v. Needless to say, there were lots of bulletins posted at the courtesy desk after that about opening and checking EVERY box that came in. I'd have to say that was the most stressful job I have ever had, everybody that came in the door with someone to return, had an attitude. They were always expecting the worst. They were ready to fight and argue. I'd tell them to go get what they wanted or give them their money back for something and they'd still just stand there waiting to tell me off, they weren't expecting to get their way. People brought back dead fish, worn clothes, worn shoes, used rugs, used oil filters that had oil in them, and SWEAR to me that they weren't used!

A VCR of a brand not reflected by the box and which had half of the door broken off and looked like it had been pulled around the parking lot behind a car. Lady insisted it had never been used.
