How to build a built in book shelf for an existing alcove ?

I am planning to build & install a built in book shelf in an existing alcove in my family room, and trim to match the rest of the room. Getting a professional to do it would be way over my budget, so I am planning to do it myself. The problem is I dont know how to go about it :-( Any advice/help would be appreciated. Thanks !

take down the Sheetrock, frame the shelves to the existing studs inside the wall, then replace the sheetrock, tape and float, then trim the outside. that simple..

this is not an easy project to take on as a first.

You might want to get some bids and then look at the cost if you do it and it does not work as the cost may not be that big of a difference
