How much will it cost to fix a front suspension?

My mom's front suspension fell off her car today. One side cracked into the street, but she was pulling into a parking lot so she wasn't going terribly fast and there wasn't a lot of damage to the fender. Anyway, we were just wondering if anyone had a rough estimate on the cost involved in replacing it, before the repair shop gets around to pricing it tomorrow.

She drives an oldsmobile achieva se from the late 90s.

Sounds like a lower ball joint. The part should be no more than $50 or so and it should take less than 2 hours to do the job. Keep in mind that the axle might need to be re-inserted into the tranny if it pulled out far enough. This shouldn't be a very expensive repair if nothing else was damaged.

Compare repair cost to buying newer ride.

Sounds like a new car is in order.
