How many people can afford a £900 Tv ?

When I see an advert proclaiming just how wonderful and "cheap" a big flat screen Tv is for £900 am I supposed to be impressed ... or just annoyed that the advertising media are attempting to stretch people way beyond rational means ?

Update:

No doubt that we live in the age of consumerism, but I myself feel it amazing that such expensive material goods are made to sound "the norm" when it seems few can sensibly afford the goods. Strange in a time when the level of personal debt is so high.

I feel the same way, everyone is being bullied into believing they fall short somehow if they do not own a huge TV, a new computer, a massive car (preferably a nissan 4x4) and live with a mortgage.

It's not right, Opt out and do your own thing !

I don't know how hard affording a 900 pound TV would be but I bet moving it would be pretty tough. -just kidding-

I think it's suppose to say "If you wanna be a big shot, you gotta have this TV, you can impress your friends, so what if you end up in debt for the next two years, you have a cool television."

I'd say you're to be annoyed (I am). and I don't know the monetary exchange rate but here are a couple of links to stores (in the U.S.) that are carriers of some of the more popular brands (worldwide companies) and the prices of their TVs.

I do have some savings put away so i could, should i wish, buy one today. But i do not see the point of wasting my savings on a big TV to 'impress' visitors! when there is nothing wrong with my old one. I also agree with one of the answers above me that many people who do not work are able to buy big fancy things like this which is beyond me how they can afford to.

I examine that she positioned a substantial down charge on it from money she has won from interviews, etc. that's exciting to me that she has lived in her mom's abode and her mom has supported her and her 6 older teenagers for years yet isn't paying off her mom's loan whilst her mom is going to pass into foreclosures for no longer paying her loan. merely yet another occasion at how egocentric octomom is.

    Dole scroungers Charlie?

I take it you have never had any kind of state benefit ??

For the record my TV cost £1500 2yrs ago, I paid cash for it and I haven't worked for over 10 years.

And no. I'm not on the dole.

it is a lot to pay for a tv i grant you but my family all work and clubbed together to buy one for my parents at christmas. so its affordable within a family. besides there are large models a lot cheaper than that as well.

What idiot would want to spend £900 on a TV? More money than sense if you ask me.

Interestingly the largest TVs always seem to belong to dole scroungers! They then pay it off for 100 years.
