2 AnswersPhotography1 decade agoDoes anyone wonder if the Newspaper Bosses are even Greedier than MPs?
It seems that in every Football World Cup run up they understand that they will sell more newspapers if they throw as much dirt as possible at people that will be part of the team attempting to do well there. Lets face it, for as much as the behaviour of John Terry cannot be condoned, it must be said that a footballer "playing away" with another woman is hardly headline news, nor is it anything that a huge percentage of those in the public eye have done. Yet the entire story is dramatised like the Sun is about to crash into the moon.
I am interested as to what the public think, rather than those purely after more money. I.e. The News of the World

Is is no possible that the daily drivel of NHS gripes is being driven by the government as a method of brain-washing the public into thinking the NHS would be better as a Privatised entity ?
7 AnswersGovernment1 decade agoConsidering the "Wellworths" now open in Dorset, is the time now right for the corner-shop to make a come-back?
In years not too distant in the memory, companies sought to make money by buying up other companies, reducing staffing levels and increasing market share for the benefit of shareholders. Is the current economic climate now right for small buisness to flourish making sensible profit for small numbers of people over the ideal of corporate mass ?

10 AnswersPhilosophy1 decade agoWho else laughed at hearing Labour now want to make the Bank of England accountable for the UK financial state
Is this government now a complete farce ? Is it not in the governments remit to ensure the stability of the country's financial state ? Or are the government simply raising their hands and saying they are not capable ?
5 AnswersGovernment1 decade agoThere is a call for everyone to "home-compost" but ..?
surely if everyone were to "home-compost" the combined gases created would be the same as those at a landfill site ? So what is the point, bar reducing the waste taken to these sites ?

We get few of the monies generated by tax as given to those with children and now we will also have to come 2nd to fathers and mothers when it comes to holiday leave ?! Is it about time we had the same income tax laws as some of the scandanavian countries and those without children should pay less ?

12 AnswersOther - Environment1 decade agoWhy are MPs not 100% accountable for our local issues ?
When the local councils are, in many cases, not the same party as the seat in Westminster (ie. My local council is Lib-Dem, but the MP is Conservative) they obviously have no real control over what happens in constituencies. It seems to me they become, after being elected, simply a device to be used by their own party to add weight to the cabinet's decisions and completely pointless to those that elected them.
Why can't local representatives at general election be the same as our local representatives all the time ? I cannot see how a Westminster MP is accountable for anything otherwise.
1 AnswerElections1 decade agoHow many people can afford a £900 Tv ?
When I see an advert proclaiming just how wonderful and "cheap" a big flat screen Tv is for £900 am I supposed to be impressed ... or just annoyed that the advertising media are attempting to stretch people way beyond rational means ?
13 AnswersTVs1 decade agoDo you think it sensible to make Bin Laden videos a global talking point ?
As much as I realise they will surface anyway, it seems odd to me that the press want to make the videos freely available and effectively promote the man by doing so. Surely if fewer were to take any notice (obviously authorities will continue to monitor output) there would be fewer instances of peope wanting to join him ? I am interested in how people feel about it.
